Review: Great Instrumentals

This CD provided a really good instrumental version of the song "From This Moment On". I performed this at my best friend's wedding and it was very easy to adapt to as it followed the same music as the original song. The other songs on the CD also sound very similar to the popular versions.

Review: A Day to Remember- Instrumental Music for Your Wedding Day
Awesome, the song selections are simply beautiful!

Review: A Day to Remember
This cd is unbelievably beautiful. It makes me wish I could go through the wedding process again, but it brings tears to my eyes when I listen to this cd and think that my little baby will be leaving me one day.

Review: beautiful music
I bought this CD for an outdoor wedding where I didn't feel organ or full orchestra music would be appropriate. This CD is full of beautiful music...I plan to take all the music from my ceremony from this CD! I'm sure I will also listen to this CD in the future..so lovely and relaxing!! It was definitely a great buy.

Review: Beautiful
I was originally looking for songs to play at my reception but ran across this album and have completely reworked the program to include most of the ones on this album.

Review: a lovely CD
This is a lovely CD. I am very happy with this music for our wedding ceremony . We even used some of the songs for our prelude music.

I also purchased from amazon.com the New Wedding Traditions Volume I CD for our special reception songs (father/bride, mother/groom, etc.).

I thank Amazon for helping us with all our music for our wedding day.

Review: Beautiful instrumentals
This is a very beautiful CD. I was very impressed with the sound quality of the music. You could play this at your wedding and noone would know it is not live.
I bought this CD because I wanted an instrumental version of the Wedding Song to have someone sing a solo to at my wedding. This song is great, but I now plan on using other songs on the CD too.

Review:
The piano-duo The O'Neill Brothers have compiled a collection of instrumental music for weddings comprised of original, classical, and pop music that they have used in the 200+ weddings they have played for over the past several years. I haven't been to a wedding in quite a long time and have no idea of what people are doing musically these days, but the variety of the selections on this CD seems to cover most bases. A lot of the music is ensemble playing rather than just piano, adding to the variety of sounds. I'm not sure how many people who are not planning weddings would buy a CD like this, so let's look at it from the perspective of someone who is. The CD is arranged in sections to correspond to the parts of a wedding - Prelude, Processional, Ceremony, Recessional, and Reception - and each section has 2-4 pieces to use or choose from. I really like the two original pieces, "Falling in Love" and "Reminiscent Joy," which are piano only. The Brothers also do a really nice job with Paul Stookey's "The Wedding Song," which is also piano only. The classical pieces are pretty standard wedding faire, and include - "Canon in D," "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring," "Ave Maria," and "Ode to Joy." Pop tunes include "From This Moment On" by Shania Twain, "Forever In Love" by Kenny G, and "The Way You Look Tonight." All of the arrangements are solid and appealing, so I think this would be a really nice collection to use either in the background on the wedding day or to help in choosing pieces to be played live.

Review: This is a great book to refresh with!
It had been years since I played the piano but I wanted to pick it back up. I bought this book and I absolutely love it. Dan Coates arranges the music in such a way that it is very easy to pick up on and play. Would definitely recommend this book!

will you marry me?
so, you've found the wo/man of your dreams, located and secured the perfect venue, sampled cuisine from so many caterers that you're not sure you'll fit into your wedding duds, selected bridesmaids dresses that will flatter you by making your friends look like rocky horror rejects and ordered enough flowers to enter your own float in the rose parade, but feel like you're forgetting something? you are, stupid...you forgot to decide on a song for your first dance. not to fear! some people wait until two weeks before they come to this shocking realization and still manage to not completely embarrass themselves.

'FROM NOW ON ' by Regina Belle and Glenn Jones (from the CD-'This Is Regina')...Those are really the ultimate wedding songs!!

Review: Romantic
I highly recommend this CD for all married couples. (Single couples listening to this CD on dates will soon have reason to get married - so be careful.) It is a CD that you must give as a gift to all couples you know because you will not be lending them your copy - if you do never expect to get it back. I never remove mine from the sound system in my bedroom. (You will find out why soon enough - when you hear this CD.)There is no need for any other CD. It is sooo seductive. I promise you will not regret buying this one.

Review: Great Songs
Just what I was looking for. Just the right songs for wedding video's.

Review: Inspirational Wedding Music
I recently bought this CD and I am happy to report that I wasn't disappointed. I found some beautiful music which I hope to use in my October 2003 wedding ceremony. I think there are some other Christian songs out there that would have been appropriate for this CD, but overall I would have to say this is a beautiful album and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for inspirational music for their wedding.

Review: Great Wedding Music!
I recently purchased this CD which I happen to find while browsing in Amazon.Com. After listening to sample clips, I was convinced that this compilation of various artists was the best choice of all the other wedding music CD's that I have viewed. This cd offers a variety of music styles from comtemporary artists. Very romantic, perfect for your wedding! I highly recommend this cd for those who are just can't find the right music to play at their wedding. I highly recommend it!

This is an amazing set of songs. From the Processional to the ressional and everything in between. We used it for our Anniversary re-commitment and it blessed everyone! You will not be dissapointed. And it also makes great addition to music for your quiet times with the Lord.

So you are going to get married!

a song for you
originally, the whole concept of the wedding song arose from the fact that most couples had "a song", "our song". unfortunately, this notion seems to completely escape today's soon-to-be-weds, who enter ballroom dance studios across the country asking, "what do you suggest?" well, i suggest that you sit down and try to remember the song that was playing the first time you kissed, the first time you danced or the first time you held hands. i don't even care if it's romantic or the least bit appropriate. in my opinion, a song that means something to the both of you, even if it's the divinyls' "i touch myself" is better than picking something from a list that a ballroom dance studio gives if for no other reason than that's it's personal.

if you're determined to have something dignified and suitable and can't remember a single memory that will supply a song that fits the bill, there's still hope.

a little research is a beautiful thing
fortunately, there are droves of compilation cds geared to rob you of your wedding dollars--'I Will Be Here: 25 of Today's Best Wedding & Love Songs', 'Heart Beats: Now & Forever - Timeless Wedding Songs', 'Rockin' & Rollin' Wedding Songs, Vol. 1', etc.. comb through track listings online and you'll be surprised to discover how many of these completely acceptable songs you have in your own meager cd collection. if not, you can always order one online--you're already on the site, right?

in spite of the comments above, the lists at most ballroom dance studios are actually great resources. even if they don't have a printed list, i guarantee you that your instructor--you are taking lessons, aren't you? no? see below--can rattle off a list of songs that couples have been using for decades from the top of his/her head. i know i can. you can also take in the song(s) that you're considering using to ask for advice on tempo, style of dance, etc..

one last thing, consider the meaning of the song. i once had a couple who wanted to use mariah carey's remake of "open arms" because we'd used it a lot to rehearse waltz and they thought it was pretty. it is pretty. it's also about a couple breaking up and getting back together. that might not be such a good idea. another couple decided on elton john's "can you feel the love tonight" from the soundtrack to _the lion king_. i hope it had some great personal significance because, in my opinion, it's a rather insipid choice with which to begin your adult, romantic life with your spouse.

you can't dance...no, really, you can't.
are you under 50 years old? if so, you can't dance. no, really, you can't. at least not like you're meant to at a wedding. sure, you've spent countless shirtless, sweaty nights at pleasuredome and sbny dancing like a shaman in some tribal trance, but that does not make you fred astaire or ginger rogers (well, maybe ginger rogers).

every song you hear on the radio, on mtv, at the market, with the possible exception of those by kittie and slipnot, follow rhythm patterns that classify them as a particular type of ballroom dance. those different styles of dance have distinct steps and beats that separate them from one another. if you didn't know any of that, i've already proven my point. you can't dance.

fortunately, there ARE ballroom dance studios all across the country and world. i know what you're thinking, this isn't an advert for any one of them, though i do have a special fondness for karen shelley and the folks at the arthur murray studio in san francisco, california. fine group of folks, they are. anyway, these kind professionals are trained to take people like you, who may not have danced since their last kegger at the frat/soroity house and turn them into graceful showpersons. okay, i might be exaggerating, but you probably will stop tripping over each other, at the very least.

not only can they help you select a song and teach you how to dance, but they can advise you on grace and poise, how to queue a bandleader or dj to invite other couples to join you on the dancefloor and even how to get the most out of the all-important money dance. all i ask is the following:

+ go now, it's never too soon to start taking lessons.
+ go with a positive attitude. let this be a break from your more stressful wedding preparations.
+ let the instructor do the teaching. ladies, you have a tendency to compare your instructor to your fiance. in the first place, your instructor spends eight hours a day leading partners around the dancefloor. in the second place, he's probably queer. so, you see, you're better off, in the long run, with the one you've chosen. keep the comparisons to yourself.

showtime.
people are going to drop major dime making YOUR day a day to remember. aside from purchasing something off your registry--you did remember to register, right?--and picking out some fancy new duds to try to outdo the happy couple, they have to worry about getting to the altar--aren't these destination weddings a b1tch? what am i trying to say? give the people their money's worth! put on a show!

look, anybody can do a foxtrot <sigh> or waltz <double sigh>. why not spice things up with a tango ('Women of Tango'), salsa ('La Negra Tiene Tumbao') or hustle ('From Now On')? you've got nothing to lose and your friends' and familes' attention to retain. sure, your walking down the aisle is supposed to be the big event, but it only takes a hot minute to take in a $1,500 dress and then you're bored sh1tless for an hour (two hours if you're greek orthodox; i know of which i speak). give the people something to watch and a reason to come back (heaven forbid) a second time.

i do.
<sigh> you've picked a song. you dance like pros--or as close as you can reasonably expect in the short amount of time you had left. and you're in love. sit back and unwind before the big day with the 'Love Tickles (My Best Friend's Wedding / Sleepless in Seattle / The Wedding Planner / As Good as It Gets)'.

oh, one more thing. since you put in all that hard work, don't forget to capture the whole thing on film. may i suggest picking up a 'Logitech ClickSmart 510 Dual-Mode Camera'.
